Here at Sound and District Primary School we love to link up with our wider community as often as possible! Sometimes as a whole school and sometimes just classes. Broomhall and Sound Chapel plays a large put in this; welcoming us for events and also coming into school for events.
Here are just some of the activities we have taken part in this year!
At Sound and District we are incredibly lucky to have such a fabulous outdoor and woodland area, which we try to maximise! To keep improving the sustainability of our outdoor environment we made a bid to the woodland trust for new tress for the school grounds, which was successful! Each family has been sent a label to write on, these will then be planted with the trees on Friday 14th June. Photos to follow!
Whole School chapel visit
we were very lucky that we got to learn all about the lead up to Easter and the importance of the different days.
Year One and Year Two visit to Church House Care Home.
On Tuesday 18th December Years 1 and 2 had the pleasure of visiting Church House to sing some songs from our recent Christmas play “The Inn-Spectors”. Everyone had a fabulous time children and residents alike!
Year One Nativity talk.
Year 1 were very lucky during December and got a very special visitor! Katherine from the chapel came over to school to tell us all about
Katherine taught us lots about the story of Jesus’ birth and helped us to set up our own Nativity scene. Thank you to Katherine for teaching us all about Christmas.
Year Two Hope Journey
In November Year 2 went to the Chapel to take part in the Hope Journey event alongside children in Year 2 from Wrenbury Primary school. All the children had their own passport which was stamped as they travelled through the story of Jesus’ birth meeting different significant characters as they went along.
We were lucky enough to meet the donkey who told us all about how hard it was to walk all the way from Bethlehem to Nazareth with a heavily pregnant Mary on her back. (She moaned alot!) We also met Ruby the sheep who was there with her Shepherds teaching us all about life on the hillside as a Shepherd.
We also got to meet the Three Wise Men who showed us their gifts of Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh. Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus explained all about how hard it was trying to find room and just how grateful they were to the Innkeeper for letting them stay in the stable.
