  • Head’s Welcome

Welcome to Sound & District Primary School.

    Our Values

We provide the best start in life for every one of our children, provide support to their parents and carers whilst maintaining a presence in the local community. We are a friendly, caring and nurturing school with a ‘family feel’, where staff and children work together in an atmosphere of respect and trust, and where the individuality of every child is valued.  This is reflected in the comments received from parents. We believe that all children should be encouraged to fulfil their full potential intellectually, academically, creatively and emotionally and strive to ensure that our children develop high levels of self esteem and pride in their achievements, a love of learning and a sense of enquiry. Furthermore, we believe that excellence is to be encouraged; from learning and playing together to setting high standards in our behaviour and conduct. This encapsulates our ethos.

    Where is our school?

Sound & District Primary school is situated three miles south of the town of Nantwich, in a pleasant rural locality, catering for children aged from 4-11 years. Known originally as Broomhall Board school, and later as Sound Council school, the school dates from 1876. The original Grade II listed building still exists, and has been added to and extended over the years, marrying the old Victorian origins of the school to the new.

    Our School Surroundings

Our school has extensive grounds including a playground, two large fields, one of which has games pitches and benches, a low adventure play area, an orchard (which has recently been revamped by The Kings Trust) and a wildlife garden. In April 2013, our new classroom was completed by our incredibly active and supportive PTA, as well as the provision of a school car park on Wrenbury Heath road. A thriving private nursery, Outdoor Fun, is also housed in the school grounds and caters for pre-school children throughout the week, as well as providing Breakfast Club & After School care.

    Our Academic Successes

In our academic year 2023/24 at Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 we were above National in reading, writing and maths. Please see further information below to find out more about what we have achieved.

    Our School Community

We recognise that we can only achieve the best for all of our children by involving parents, carers and the wider community in every aspect of school life. The governors, staff and myself are committed to working in partnership and will provide frequent opportunities to share the progress our children are making and how we are working with them.

We endeavour to ensure that every one of our children feels safe, happy and cared for in our school; that they become confident, articulate, caring members of our community and global individuals of the future.

We look forward to welcoming you to our school.
