Welcome to Years 4 and 5!

    Sapphire Class

In Topaz Class, we pride ourselves in being caring, considerate and a hard-working team.

Your child will be given a reading book and diary to take home and read. Please ensure that they are in your child’s book bag every day. It is really important that your child reads as much as possible. We ask that you try to read with your child each night, even if it’s just for 5 minutes. Your child will also have lots of opportunities to read and enjoy books throughout the week in school.

Currently, our PE day is Monday.  Please send your children into school wearing their PE kit.  During the Winter, children should have both tracksuit bottoms and shorts as we could be outside come rain or snow! Girls should bring tracksuit bottoms too as they are not to wear tights underneath shorts.

At present, during playtime, the children are using the field.  Please ensure your child has a change of footwear and a pair of tracksuit bottoms to change into.

Homework is set on a Wednesday and is due back in on the following Tuesday. It will be marked on Tuesday and therefore, it is important that it is handed in on time to ensure it is marked. Homework is either linked to our learning in Maths and English or will be topic based. It should take no longer than 20 minutes for each piece. If it is a longer piece, the children will be told before hand.

Spellings will be handed out each week on a Thursday to be tested on Thursday the following week.

At Sound, we always welcome volunteers to come and read with the children, work alongside the class or even volunteer for clubs or special activities. If this is of interest to you, don’t hesitate to speak to the office or the class teacher and they will point you in the right direction.

(At present, due to COVID restrictions, we cannot have parents in school to help, however, as soon as these restrictions are lifted we will be in touch. Thank you)

During Lockdown, the children in Topaz class have been taking part in a photography challenge. Each day they have been presented with a theme or subject to photograph. We have some budding photographers in Year 4 and 5 I am sure you will agree! Here are some of the results:
