    TOPAZ CLASS
Welcome to Years 4 and 5!

    Sapphire Class

In Topaz Class, we pride ourselves in being caring, considerate and a hard-working team.

    Reading

In Topaz Class we really promote a love of reading, taking every opportunity to share, read and engage with a range of texts across the curriculum as well as for pure enjoyment! Your child will have a reading book at all times as well as a diary to record and track home and school reading. Please ensure that they are in your child’s book bag every day. It is really important that your child reads as much as possible. We ask that you try to read with your child each night, even if it’s just for 5 minutes. Your child will also have frequent independent reading time throughout the week in school.

    PE

During Autumn Term,  Topaz class will be swimming on Monday afternoons and have PE on Tuesday afternoons.   Please send your children into school wearing their PE kit on both days.   During the Winter, children should have both tracksuit bottoms and shorts as we could be outside come rain or snow! During the Spring and Summer Term PE will take place on both a Tuesday and Thursday afternoon.

    Playtime

During playtime, the children can use the field.  Please ensure your child has a change of footwear and a pair of tracksuit bottoms to change into if they want to go on the field.

    Homework

Homework in Topaz Class consists of a range of activities to support and enhance the children’s learning in school. Activities include; set challenges within Times Tables Rock Stars, completing independent reading to allow for completion of Accelerated Reader quizzes and learning of spellings which will be handed out each week on a Friday to be tested on Friday the following week. This will also be supplemented with additional exploring activities linked to learning taking place in the classroom.

    Volunteers

At Sound, we always welcome volunteers to come and read with the children, work alongside the class or even volunteer for clubs or special activities. If this is of interest to you, don’t hesitate to speak to the office or the class teacher and they will point you in the right direction.

Mrs Wagg is the teacher in Topaz Class.
