At Sound and District Primary School, Residential Visits are a key part of our Curriculum. Throughout school we have a plan of visits which begin in Year 1&2 for a one night stay up to Year 5&6 who go away from 3-5 nights. The focus of the visit ranges from Outdoor Adventurous activities to 4 days in France. Over the past 2 years, we have had outdoor adventurous activities in the UK, a trip to the city of Liverpool and our first visit to St Omer in France.
We believe that residential trips are key to : improving confidence and resilience; enhancing learning experiences within and outside of school; are vital to a child’s physical, emotional health and well-being and have been proven to have a positive effect on children’s self-esteem and confidence levels. The importance of allowing children to explore different environments, take responsibility for themselves and others around them, enable them to discover who they are and make their own decisions. Residential trips also offer a unique opportunity for them to claim their independence and build new friendships.
