Welcome to Forest School
At Sound & District Primary School we are very fortunate to have an Orchard in the School grounds, home to our very own Forest School.
Mrs Ashley, the Forest School Leader from Outdoor Fun, is a trained teaching assistant and nursery nurse, with a huge amount of child development experience and of the benefits that outdoor learning can bring to every child.
Each class has a dedicated Forest School session each year, directly linked to their class topic. A letter is provided to parents at the start of each year with an overview and dates that each class will be attending Forest School. 2019’s letter can be accessed here:Forest School letter parent info & dates
The sessions provide children with a unique understanding of the wild spaces around them, which can bring enormous benefits to their lives including:health and well being, fun and enjoyment, working together and developing friendships, managed risk taking.
Forest School is also often offered as an Afterschool Club activity. The children tell us that they really enjoy their time at Forest School and the opportunity to be outside to explore, play and to learn.
